is proud to present our first Artist Spotlight, Ron Guyatt! He is one of my favorite graphic designers & illustrator!

I remember coming across his work on Etsy. I had just moved into my new apartment and wanted to get some really awesome video game posters for my place; Then I stumbled across his art and I seriously wanted to buy every single one of his posters at that moment.

Upon looking more into his work, he works alongside his lovely girlfriend, Indy, who does great posters, pin-up characters & illustrations! I just love the both of them - I want my apartment filled with all their posters. And I think it's great that they are both doing what they love side by side!

I was able to get into contact with Ron and he was awesome enough to answer some interview questions for me.

1. Tell me a little about yourself.

I am a Designer, illustrator that lives in Toronto Canada. I studied Graphic Design in college and would consider my illustration end mostly self taught. I live with my long time fellow artist and girlfriend Indy and our two cats.

2. How would you describe your art?

Simplistic forms that create a complex image, bold imagery that tells a story. Inspired by Art Deco, Constructivism and a little Art Nouveau.

3. What's your favorite piece of work that you have created?

It is so hard to pick a favourite piece, if I had to pick I think I would go with my Fifth Element poster.

4. Do you have any big projects you are working on at the moment?

I have a few larger projects on the go, I have been working with a new micro brewery for their brand identity. I have also been working on a few posters for a couple galleries in the U.S. Nothing I can speak about at this time though :)

5. Do you have any artists that influence or inspire you?

Now that is a long list of people.. I guess to name a few, Ashley Wood, Adam Hughes, Sean Gordon Murphy, Mike Mignola, Stanley Lau, Jace Wallace, Phil Noto and of course one of my biggest influences is my girlfriend Indy.

6. What do you like to do when you're not creating? What hobbies do you have?

I enjoy a reading comic books, playing video games, and watching movies.

7. Okay, hands down... You've created numerous video game related designs. What's your favorite video game to play? If you had to choose just one!

That's an easy one, Sim City (although I have yet to play the newest edition)

8. And just for fun... If you could have any special powers/abilities, what would it be & why?

Haha, I think I'd like the ability to be able to make my pictures perfect every time!

9. What are your goals for the future, both work wise & life?

In the future I'd like to get a house and get married to my lady. As for career I would like to do covers/posters for a big movie, game or comic, that would be pretty cool! Would love to do an art show as well as some conventions outside of Canada.

10. Lastly, do you have any tips or inspiring words for others?

As long as you feel good about your work other people will to and as long as you feel confident and your work is worth it others will feel the same. Just keep trying and remember that for the few that might not like what you do, there are always many others that will love your work.

He has become a great inspiration for me because I've always wanted to try and collide the design world with my geeky-fandom and I feel he has greatly accomplished that with his terrific designs.

You can visit his official website, Etsy and Deviantart to see more of his designs!
